About Paw Arty

A woman with blonde hair, wearing a dark jacket and earrings, is hanging a yellow item on a bulletin board in a store.

Paw Arty by Paws With Cause was founded in 2016 by Alix Frazier, initially as Paws With Cause. Inspired by her experience painting with her mother—who was living with Alzheimer’s—Alix wanted to create an art program where seniors, veterans, and volunteers could paint portraits of shelter animals. This initiative not only offered a therapeutic creative outlet for participants, but also raised awareness and funding for rescue pets through art sales and public displays .

Since those early art-sip sessions at retirement centers, the program has grown into Paw Arty, furthering its mission of connecting communities with adoptable animals and supporting shelters through creative engagement  .

What our friends are saying

Our Sponsors

Our community partners take the portraits and display them prominently inside their businesses -- raising awareness for at-risk animals as well as for the rescues and shelters that protect and advocate for them.

Seniors, veterans, and volunteers paint unique portraits of local shelter animals. Art gives a sense of purpose and can help with mental and physical health issues.
